Collection: Manganese Glass

This glass contains manganese, which causes it to glow green under a 365nm blacklight.  Manganese is one of the oldest additives used in glass production. It has been employed in small quantities to decolorize glass, effectively removing the green tint caused by iron, thus creating clear glass. In higher amounts, manganese is used to colorize glass. This practice dates back to Ancient Egypt. Manganese can produce glass in a variety of colors, including red, orange, yellow, and violet, although violet is less common. Glass containing manganese glows red, orange, peach, or even green when exposed to UV black light.

All of my pictures were taken using a dark beam 365nm flashlight. All items are preloved. I strive to accurately describe any imperfections, but I may occasionally overlook something, as I am only human. All items are sold as-is, and no returns are accepted. If you would like additional pictures of an item, please send me a message, and I will be more than happy to provide them.
